Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the spacing between end faces virtually zero and accomplish stable brazing of good airtightness by rounding a plate-shaped blank material, fitting and housing the same into a cylindrical frame jig of a small coefft. of thermal expansion and brazing the same.
CONSTITUTION: A platelike blank material 11 is rounded and a sheetlike brazing fillter metal 12a is held in place between the end faces 13 to be joined. The metal 12a is formed to have the width W1 smaller than the width W2 of the end face 13 of the rounded cylinder 11. This is fitted and housed in an outer frame jig 14 of a cylindrical shape. This jig 14 is made of a material, such as iron or graphite, which is smaller in the coefft. of thermal expansion and is harder to deform than the material 11 and is worked to have sufficient wall thickness and good roundness of bore. In this case, it is so designed as to provide an extremely slight spacing between both. When this is put into a heating furnace and is heated, the brazing filler metal melts and adheres to the jig. By the effect of the thermal expansion of the material 11, the spacing (t) between the end faces decreases and this exerts pressure upon the brazed part, thus permitting stable brazing. Next, it is cooled and the cylindrical product is taken out.
