Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive energy saving and resource saving by a method wherein slugs, i.e. so-called aluminum ashes which are generated when aluminum ores or materials containing aluminum therein are processed to melt are applied as fuel for a furnace. CONSTITUTION:This combustion furnace 1 is constructed such that its kiln is made by high heat refractory materials and substances 2 containing aluminum slugs or mixtures of aluminum slugs, small pieces of wood, straw, waste oil and the like are piled up in the furnace as fuel, and said fuel is combustioned by an igniting device 5 such as a heavy oil burner and the like which is installed at the furnace ignition port. After combustion, the injection of fuel from the ignition device 5 is terminated, the furnace port is closed and a proper volume of air is fed, resulting in that the ignited slugs 2 and the like are continued to burn to extend to the non-combustioned material, and overall fuels are ignited to cause a high temperature to be kept for a long period of time due to a good thermal insulation after combustion. In this way, combustion is accomplished wherein heating value is equal to carbonic fuel, noxcious waste substance is not produced and further a combustion product which is made after the combustion may be utilized as a refractory material.
