Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of efficiency of a steam turbine by keeping a constant clearance between a turbine shaft and a casing, by shifting the casing in an accordance wih expansion or contraction of the turbine shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a turbine shaft 11 expands or contracts in the axial direction, a measuring device 13 measures amount of the expansion or contraction. On the basis of a signal from the measuring device 13, a piston rod 18 of a cylinder 15 is operated through a signal converter 14 by a distance equivalent to the expansion or contraction of the turbine shaft 11. By the operation of the piston rod 18, a casing 16 which is connected to the piston rod 18 as a continuus body, shifts by a distance proportionate to the expansion or contraction of the turbine shaft 11. And therefore, clearances among a movable vane which is installed in the turbine shaft 11, a diaphragm and a static wing which are provided in the casing 16 are always kept at an almost constant value.
