PURPOSE:To perform required detection safely and easily by converting physical quantity to quantity of light attenuation thereby detecting the same. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 4-6 are disposed in the prescribed positions of the end faces of semicylindrical lenses 1, 3 having a specified distribution of refractive index which are equal in refractive index distributions and are placed to face to each other by leaving a spacing (d). These are supported with a supporting member 10 in the silicone oil 2a in a tightly sealed casing, and the respective ends of the fibers 4-6 are led liquid-tightly to the outside.
