Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform required detection safely and easily by converting physical quantity to quantity of light attenuation thereby detecting the same. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 4-6 are disposed in the prescribed positions of the end faces of semicylindrical lenses 1, 3 having a specified distribution of refractive index which are equal in refractive index distributions and are placed to face to each other by leaving a spacing (d). These are supported with a supporting member 10 in the silicone oil 2a in a tightly sealed casing, and the respective ends of the fibers 4-6 are led liquid-tightly to the outside. When the rate of the displacement of an object to be detected is transmitted in an arrow S direction to a displacement probe 11, the probe 11 is forced in against a spring 13, and the spacing (d) of the lenses 1, 3 changes. Hence, the rate of displacement is detected stably and easily by detecting the change in reflectivity at the interface and the quantity of attenuation owing to the change of the light Pr generated from the light Pi incided from the optical fiber 4 and emitted from the optical fiber 5 after reflecting on the interface of the lens, and the light Pt generated similarly but transmits through the optical fiber 5.
