Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled accelerator, containing a cobalt salt, iron salt, and alkaline earth metallic salt of an organic acid as a curing accelerator of an unsaturated polyester resin composition, and having a high curing rate at a low temperature with the suppressed use of high-cost cobalt.
CONSTITUTION: A curing accelerator for an unsaturated polyester obtained by adding a cobalt salt and iron salt of an 8W16C fatty acid, aromatic and alicyclic monocarboxylic acids or a chelate compound, e.g. acetylacetonate, and an alkaline earth metallic salt of an 8W16C fatty acid, aromatic and alicyclic monocarboxylic acids as a curing accelerator with the necessary minimal amount of the cobalt compound and a tin salt, copper salt, etc. of an 8W16C aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and a chelate compound, e.g. acetylacetonate thereof, as an assistant accelerator to an organic solvent, e.g. toluene. The amount of the accelerator is 0.006W0.012% cobalt, 0.001W0.02% iron and 0.01W0.06% alkaline earth expressed in terms of metals based on the weight of the unsaturated polyester resin composition.
