Abstract

PURPOSE: A stable thermosetting powder coating composition free from a solid reaction in storage, obtained by adding a carboxylic acid compound, a metallic acid of a fatty acid or an amide compound to a specific acrylic copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 parts by wt. of an acrylic copolymer having a glass transient temperature of 10W75°C and a number average molecular weight of 1,500W 30,000, obtained by copolymerizing a) 5W40 wt.% of a monomer having a glycidyl group, e.g., glycidyl acrylate with b) 95W60 wt.% of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer, e.g., methyl acrylate is blended with B) 1W40 parts by wt. of a polycarboxylic acid compound, e.g., glutaric acid, C) 0.05W10 parts by wt. of c) a metallic salt of a fatty acid, e.g., zinc stearate or d) one or more amides, e.g., acetamide, or N-methylolacetamide, and, if necessary, D) an additive for a coating compound, e.g., a resin, to give the desired composition.
