Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform both dot printing and matrix printing with a single printer by a method wherein a dot head is arranged behind a type head and part of the type head is notched. CONSTITUTION:The dot head 13 is arranged behind the type head 12. In the matrix printing, when types are selected from the type head 12, the dot head 13 is excited electrically, a plurality of wires jump to give impact to the back surface of the type head. Then in the dot printing, first the notch part of the type head 12 is selected in a control part. Said procedure is performed entirely in the same manner as in the matrix type printing. Then, the magnet is excited which corresponds to the dots necessary to constitute types of the dot-head 13. A jump wire passes through the notch part of the type head 12 to perform printing.
