Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound by the dehydrogenation of α-tetralone using a catalyst having long duration of the activity and obtained by supporting platinum (compound) and an alkali to γ-alumina carrier, and treating the product with hydrogen sulfide or an organic sulfur compound.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compound can be prepared by the dehydrogenation of α-tetralone in the presence of a catalyst obtained by (1) supporting platinum or a platinum compound (e.g. chloroplatinic acid) and an alkali to γ-alumina carrier, and (2) treating the product with hydrogen sulfide or an organic sulfur compound (e.g. carbon disulfide). The amounts of platinum (compound) and the alkali are pref. 0.5W1.2wt% (as Pt) and 3W7wt% (as oxide) of the carrier, respectively, and that of the hydrogen sulfide or the organic sulfur compound is pref. 0.05W2.0wt% of the carrier.
EFFECT: The objective compound can be obtained in improved conversion and high selectivity.
USE: Intermediate of dyes, and raw material of pesticides.
