Abstract
PURPOSE:To reject noise such as background dirt from an input picture, by detecting an average level of a video element density of the input picture and eliminating the video elements of a density less than this average level. CONSTITUTION:An analog input video signal (a) read in by a scanner is inputted to a preprocessing circuit 10 to detect an average level of the video element density and the video elements of a density less than the average level are rejected and the result is applied to a skelton video pickup circuit 20. Further, the output of the circuit 10 is given to a profile video pickup circuit 40 via a differentiation binary circuit 30 and it is processed together with the output of the circuit 20. The arrangement of video elements is corrected at a correction circuit 50 and open profile line is corrected at a correction circuit 60, and the result is synthesized with an output of the circuit 20 at a video synthesis processing circuit 70. Thus, a binary video output where noise such as background dirt of a document is rejected is obtained.
