Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid the stress exerted to an optical fiber, by storing an optical fiber formed in spiral in a pipe-shaped rigid body. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulation braid 2 is made at the inside of a pipe-shaped rigid body 1 made of aluminum. An optical fiber 3 formed in spiral in it is stored and the optical fiber 3 is supported with a sponge type spacer 5. The pipe-shaped rigid body 1 thus constituted is taken as an optical unit and aluminum coated steel wires are arranged around it to constitute a composite cable. Thus, the application of a stress on the optical fiber can be avoided even with a tension exerted to the cable and thermal adverse effect can not be given to the optical fiber through heat insulation braid.
