Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify and case assembly adjustment of the tapered roller bearings by measuring a gap in the axial direction between tapered roller bearings in a temporary assembling condition. CONSTITUTION:In a temorary assembling condition, a gear case 1 is supported practically in horizontal state by two supporting stands 26 and 27 after an output shaft 10 is conversely turned downward. With this supporting condition, the outut shaft 10 is pushed down in order to settle a tapered roller bearing 15 which is positioned on the lower side in a proper position. Then, a gap (e) is produced between the back side of a tapered roller bearing 14 which is positioned on the upper side and the end of housing 11. This gap (e) is measured of a dial gauge 29 in order to select a proper shim 19. Subsequently, after it has been supported to keep the output shaft 10 turned upward and the shim 19 is inserted between an outer ring 13b and an end of a bearing holding part 17, a cover 16 is fixed on the case 1.
