Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure an accurate positioning, by storing a write command and data, skipping the error information block with a backward reading when a write error is newly detected and then comparing the data of the normal block with the stored data. CONSTITUTION:The write command and data given from an upper device are stored in a control information recording part 7 via an interface 1 and a microprocessor part 5. The write command is carried out by the execution of a microprogram of a microprogram storage part 6 via a data processing part 2, data modulating and demodulating part 3 and a magnetic tape interface 4. In case when a write error is detected, the write error information block is skipped by a backward reading to compare the data of the normal block with the data stored in the part 7. When a coincidence is obtained, a positioning is given to the front edge IBG part of the block. In such way, an accurate positioning is possible.
