Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform desiliconization treatment of molten iron effectively by immersing a steel pipe packed with a desiliconizer in the molten iron flowing in a tapping spout of a blast furnace, melting the steel pipe and adding the desiliconizer therein continuously to the molten iron.
CONSTITUTION: Molten iron HM and molten slag MS discharged through a tap hole 1a of a blast furnace 1 are received in a tapping spout 2, and the molten slag MS is separated with a skimmer 2a through a slag discharge port 2b. Only the molten iron is received in a tilting spout 3 and is fed to a molten iron pan or the like. In a main spout part 20 of the spout 2, a thin-walled steel pipe 11 packed with a desiliconizer consisting essentially of iron oxide, etc. is suspended and its leading end is immersed in the molten iron HM so that the pipe 11 is melted by the heat retained by the molten iron, whereby the desiliconizer in the inside is added directly into the flowing-down molten iron HM and the molten iron is desiliconized. The steel pipe packed with the desiliconizer is produced by forming a skelp of a thin-walled steel plate into a pipe shape in the upper part of the tapping spout and packing the desiliconizer therein at the same time.
