PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has superior durability and superior running stability, by providing a magnetic layer which contains polyethylene wax and silicone oil. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic paint which contains polyethylene wax, expressed by (-C2H4-) where (m) is 4-100, well dissolved in an organic solvent and having good compatibility with silicone oil, by 0.1-20wt% of magnetic powder, and also contains silicone oil of dimethyl polysiloxane at a 1:1-10:1 weight ratio to the polyethylene wax is applied to a base of polyester and then dried to form a magnetic layer. Then, a surface treatment is performed and the base is cut to manufacture a magnetic tape. Thus, the magnetic tape has stable running characteristics and superior durability.
