Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure quick and safe detection for the temperature higher or lower than a prescribed level through a simple constitution, by enclosing paraffin having a fusing point of a prescribed temperature into a sealed container having a light transmitting part. CONSTITUTION:For measurement of an abnormal temperature of body or the like, paraffin 3 having a sharp fusing point such as the n-eicosane (C20H42 with melting point 37 deg.C) or the like is coated in a layer form on a colored layer 2 provided on the inner bottom surface of a container 1. Then a gap layer 4 is formed, and a transparent upper cover 5 is attached to seal an opening 1a. Thus a temperature display element A is obtained. A viscous layer 6 is formed on the outer bottom surface of the element A to be attached on the surface of body. Thus paraffin which is white and opaque under the fusing point becomes transparent at a temperature higher than the melting point. As a result, the color of the inner bottom surface becomes visible. A sharp measurement is also possible at another temperature by mixing a proper amount of paraffin of another kind to eicosane. In such way, a temperature display element which can be used in a safe way with high durabililty can be obtained.
