Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable automatic of a paper by a simple and inexpensive constitution, by a method wherein the movement of a platen, feeding papers, is selectively transferred to a cam by a clutch, and a paper bail and a guide are driven following the motion of the cam 9. CONSTITUTION:When a platen 2 starts to turn, a spring clutch, with a solenoid 15 pulled, is coupled, and rotation of a platen shaft 17 is transferred to a cam 9. A paper guide 7 is raised up to a paper guide position with a cam follower 7a engaging a higher part 9a of the cam, meanwhile, a cam follower 6a engages a lower part 9b of the cam to separate a paper bail 6 from the platen 2. The cam 9 is brought to a stop at a position where a device s ready for an automatic paper feeding. A paper 1 also turns resulting from the continuous turn of the platen 2, and when the paper 1 enters between the platen 2 and the paper bail 6, a solenoid 17 is pulled. This causes returns of the paper guide 7 and the paper bail 6 to their original positions to bring the paper 1 into the nip formed by the paper bail 6 and the platen 2. The platen 2 is then reversed to bring the paper 1 to a correct printing position.
