Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a flashover of a motor and breakage of a rectifier circuit by connecting the output terminal of the rectifier circuit to both ends of a field winding through a switch for closing the circuit for braking. CONSTITUTION:When stopping a motor, a main circuit on/off switch is opened to separate a motor from a DC power source while opening a field short-circuiting switch 12. Then, a switch for closing the circuit for braking and successively a preexcitation switch 13 is closed to start the preexcitation of a field winding 7. In a specified time after the start of the preexcitation, the dynamic braking is initiated. Therefore, because outputs of rectifier circuits 14a-14d are supplied to not only to the preexcitation switch 13 but also to the field winding 7 through a switch 11 for closing the circuit when braking, no over current flows to an armature from the rectifier circuits 14a-14d, even in case an accident at closed circuit due to fusing or malfunctioning or the like occurs in the preexcitation switch 13 during the power operation.
