Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent an increase in transmission loss due to a temp. change by forming a gas parting wall part by burying a compression member in a thermosetting resin layer formed around core fibers. CONSTITUTION:A gas parting wall part A is formed at a suitable position of an optical fiber cable 1. To form the part A the cable sheath 2 of the cable 1 is removed by a suitable length to exposed core fibers 3. After well wetting the exposed core fibers 3 with thermosetting resin, a nonwoven fabric impregnated with thermosetting resin is wound around the fibers 3 and parts of the sheath 2 close to the fibers 3 to form a thermosetting resin layer 4. At this time, when wound layers of the nonwoven fabric reaches a certain thickness, while winding the fabric, a compression member 7 is interposed between fabric layers along the longitudinal direction of the cable.
