Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the expansion of an optical fiber against the expansion of a cable for laying or repair, by giving windings to the optical fiber or unit and storing this optical fiber or unit in a pipe to obtain the cable. CONSTITUTION:Windings are given to an optical fiber 1, and this optical fiber 1 is stored in a core buffer layer 2, and a secondary coating 3 is provided, thus forming a core 4. The core 4 can be expanded until windings of the fiber 1 become linear. Otherwise, cores 4' are gathered around a tensile material 5, and a coating 6 consisting of nylon or the like is convered on the outside of them, thus forming a unit 6'. Windings are given to this unit 6', and this unit 6' is stored in a pipe buffer layer 8 consisting of mateials such as silicone. Because of windings, the expansion of the fiber is lowered for cable making, laying, and repair.
