Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled polymer having high stereoregularity and extremely excellent particle size distribution, by contacting an olefin with a highly active Ziegler-type catalyst supported on a metal oxide carrier treated with a specific Ti compound.
CONSTITUTION: An olefin is polymerized by using a catalyst composed of (A) a solid catalyst component obtained by supporting a magnesium halide (e.g. MgCl2), a titanium halide (e.g. TiCl4) and an electron donative organic compound (e.g. ethyl benzoate) on a metallic oxide containing silica, alumina, magnesia, titania or their double oxide treated with a Ti compound of formula Ti(OR)4 (R is hydrocarbon residue) and (B) an organo aluminium compound[e.g. (C2H5)3Al]. The composition of the component A is pref. 35W80(wt)% metallic oxide, 0.7W5% Ti, 3W15% Mg, 10W45% halogen, and 1W15% electron donative compound, and the weight ratio of the component B to the component A is pref. 0.03W100 to 1.
