Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of residues formed as by-product and obtain the titled substance in high yield, by reacting aniline with acetone, diacetone alcohol or mesityl oxide in the presence of BF3-aniline complex as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Aniline is reacted with acetone, diacetone alcohol or mesityl oxide in the presence of BF3-aniline complex as a catalyst to give the titled substance. The amount of the catalyst to be used is preferably about 0.01W0.2mol based on one mole aniline, and the conventional reaction conditions are applied to the other reaction conditions.
USE: An antioxidant for a high polymeric substance.
