Abstract

PURPOSE: The reaction between an organolithium compound and 3,4-epoxybutene-1 in the presence of an amine such as N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine gives the titled compound selectively, which mainly consists of the Z-type and used as a perfume or its intermediate.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between an organolithium compound of RLi (R is alkyl, aralkyl, which may be substituted with functional groups) and 3,4-epoxy- butene-1 of formula I is conducted in the presence of an amine, any one of primary, secondary and tertiary amines, to produce a monosubstituted allyl alcohol mainly consisting of the Z-type of formula II such as 2-octen-1-ole. The organic part in the organolithium compound is varied to give various kinds of the oobjective compounds readily.
EFFECT: The reaction can be conducted through the shortest process with simple operations under mild conditions to give the product with high structural and conformational selectivety.
USE: Intermediate of medicines and agricultural chemicals.
