Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect continuously saccarose (SAC) content, by measuring the attenuation quantity of ultrasonic waves which are attenuated through juice. CONSTITUTION:SAC and juice fed from an SAC supply pump 1 and a juice supply pump 2 are mixed in a liquid feeding pipe 5 and are sent to a partial detecting part 6 of the liquid feeding pipe 5. In respect to the detecting part 6, an ultrasonic oscillator 8 and a receiver 9 are provided oppositely to each other on the inside face of a detecting short pipe 7. The oscillator 8 oscillates ultrasonic waves in the direction orthogonal to juice of citrus fruits which is flowed in the short pipe 7 and includes SACs, and the receiver 9 receives attenuated ultrasonic waves. Ultrasonic waves oscillated by the oscillator 8 are about 1-10MHz and are attenuated by the dispersion on the interface of SACs in juice and the internal friction and reach the receiver 9. This attenuation quantity is detected by a transducer 10 to measure continuously the SAC content.
