Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of electric power consumed by pumps in a cold water feeding apparatus, by controlling the flow rates of cooling water and cold water according to the load of the cold water feeding apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Two cooling water pumps 4a, 4b are connected in parallel in a cooling water circuit 17 wich connects a cold water feeding apparatus 1 and a cooling tower 2 to each other, and two cold water pumps 5a, 5b are connected also in parallel in a cold water circuit 16 which connects the apparatus 1 and an annular header 8 from an air-conditioning terminal unit 10 to each other. Further, a temperature detector 13 is provided at the inlet of the apparatus 1 for detecting the load of the apparatus 1. At the time of starting operation of the apparatus 1, pumps 4a, 5a are set into operation. When the operating load is kept higher than a first set value for a first set period, pumps 4b, 5b are also set into operation, while, when the operating load is kept lower than a second set value for a second set period, operation of the pumps 4b, 5b is stopped.
