Abstract
PURPOSE:To rigidly set a roll segment made of a sintered hard alloy in a roll's main body for building up a roll in one body, by forming stepped parts for mounting metallic fittings and by forming inclined side planes in roll's main body eccentrically from a rotational center line. CONSTITUTION:At a prescribed position in a roll's main body 1 made of a steel material, a stepped part 11 for mounting a sintered hard alloy made roll segment 4 is formed with diameter d2 referring to a rotational center line C. On its right side, a stepped part 12 with diameter (d) referring to an eccentric axis deviated by S from C is formed; on the left side, a stepped part 13 for mounting a metallic fitting with diameter d1 referring to an eccentric axis deviated by S1 from C oppositely to the eccentricity S is formed. Inclined, tightly contacting side planes 22, 32 between the sintered hard alloy roll segment 4 and the metallic fittings 2, 3 are respectively formed around respective eccentric axes. By mounting thus prepared roll segment 4 and fittings 2, 3 a roll is rigidly built up in one body so that the sintered hard alloy made roll segment 4 never causes racing, besides, even in the worst case of rupture of the roll, the ruptured segments do not scatter thereabout.
