Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a bulky and stable covering of good heat insulation characteristic on a steel material by ejecting a covering material consisting of inorg. fibers through a nozzle, ejecting water contg. a dry setting type binder at specific grain sizes to join this with said material, and covering the surface of the heated steel material with these.
CONSTITUTION: A covering material consisting of inorg. fibers, for example, glass wool or the like and/or inorg. lightweight granular material, for example, pearlite or the like is ejected through a nozzle of a spraying machine. Water contg. a dry setting type binder, for example, colloidal silica or the like is ejected through another nozzle in the form of mists of 0.2W2.0mm average liquid drop grain sizes. After the jets of the two are joined in the space, they are covered on the surface of a heated steel material, whereby the heat insulation covering is formed.
