Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a corrugated pipe uniform in cross section and wall thickness by a method wherein the speed of a mold piece rotated endlessly is retarded at the parts corresponding to ridge parts of the corrugated pipe and is accelerated at the part corresponding to groove parts of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A molten plastic is extruded from a die of a die head 1 in the shape of a pipe 2, and halved mold pieces 3, 3' are mated to each other to constitute a circular shaped molding tunnel immediately before the pipe 2 is extruded from the die. When forming the pipe by pressing it against the mold pieces under the effect of an air pressure or a vacuum, the mold pieces is moved more slowly at the ridge parts and faster at the groove parts by a system including a contacting element 8 which detects the corrugated condition of the mold surface, a variable resistor 9 for generating a voltage according to the displacement of the element 8, a fine adjustment primary controller 10 for controlling a driving motor 7 in accordance with the voltage generated by the resistor 9, and a secondary controller 11 for controlling the motor 7 in response to a signal fed from controller 10.
