Abstract

PURPOSE: To change the rate of injection of initial injection by controlling a small flow rate valve and a large flow rate valve of a high pressure fuel passage so that the small flow rate valve is rapidly opened in response to the increase of the speed of revolution of a diesel engine and the large flow rate valve is opened at the predetermined angle of a crank in the diesel engine.
CONSTITUTION: The fuel injection rate controller 2 passes high pressure fuel from a fuel injection pump 1, and the high pressure fuel joins through the small flow rate valve 13 of the first passage 12 and the large flow rate valve 15 of the second passage 14, and is forwarded to each cylinder by means of a distributor 3. With the small flow rate valve 13, it is opened at the time of the starting of injection, and the time of opening is controlled so as to quicken in response to the speed of revolution of the engine; with the large flow rate valve 15, it is released at the predetermined angle of the crank at all times regardless of the speed of revolution. These valves 13, 15 receive the signals of a controller 17, excite a solenoid 23, compress a spring 21 and close a fuel outlet. Accordingly, the period and starting time of the initial injection are freely changed, and the rate of injection can be altered.
