Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the dendolite deposition at the circumference of a zinc pole by employing such chlorine pole of a zinc-chlorine cell as the thickness in the proximity of the circumference has the broader cross-section than that at the central portion thereby lowering the electrochemical activity at the circumferential section. CONSTITUTION:The chlorine pole box for a zinc-chlorine cell is formed by arranging a liquid-permeable type chlorine pole 2 made of a porous titanium or porous graphite on both faces of a frame 1 provided with a tube 3 for feeding the electrolyte and a chlorine gas removal hole 4, where the thickness of said chlorine pole 2 is made such that it has broader cross-section at the circumferential section (b) than the central section (c). The amount of the permeated electrolyte will be smaller at the circumferential section than the central section of the chlorine pole 2 thus to lower the electrochemical activity at the circumferential section and to suppress the current concentration at the circumferential section of the zinc electrode, thereby the dendolite deposition at the circumferential section of the zinc electrode can be suppressed thus to prevent the shortcircuit.
