Abstract
PURPOSE:To promote the high efficient transmission by the band-compression further, by executing the comparing operation for video elements having greater tone change every video element and for those having less number of tone change every scanning line, to obtain the binary coded signal. CONSTITUTION:If the bright level of an input video signal VI is frequently changed, a mode control circuit 10 produces a video unit switching mode signal md1, and a dither matric memory 1 transmits a threshold value changed every video element to each scanning line for the comparison with VI. In case of a monotonous picture where the bright level of VI is not frequently changed, the circuit 10 produces a scanning line switching mode signal md2. Thus, the dither matrix memory 1 transmits the threshold value changed each line to compare it with the input video data.
