Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel polymer having guanidino group, with high reactivity and ion exchange capacity, and suitable for anion exchange resins, high- molecular flocculants, and adhesives, by the reaction between specific substituted dicyanamide and diamine salt.
CONSTITUTION: The objective polymer composed mainly (pref. ≥90%) of the recurring unit of formula IV or V can be obtained by the reaction, in the presence of a teriary amine (e.g., triethylamine), between (1) 1.0mol of a substituted dicyanamide of formulaI(m and n are each 2 or 3) (e.g., N,N'-dicyanopiperazine) and (2) 0.9W1.3 (pref. 1.0W1.1) mole of a diamine salt of formula II (R1 is a group consisting mainly of aliphatic or aromatic element; R' is H or 1W6C aliphatic group; H2AC is a dibasic acid) or III (R2 and R3 are each aliphatic group) (e.g., hexamethylenediamine dihydrochloride, piperazine dihydrochloride).
