Abstract

1,174,631. Bis-triazinylaminostilbenes. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 3 May, 1967, No. 20585/67. Heading C2C. Optical brightening agents of the bis-triazinylaminostilbene type, e.g. those of the Formula I: wherein R 1 is an amino radical of the benzene or benzene sulphonic acid series and R 2 is an -NH 2 group or the radical of an aliphatic or aromatic amine, or salts thereof, are prepared by (1) condensing cyanuric chloride with watersoluble salts of aromatic amines or aromatic amino sulphonic acids and (2) reacting the products with 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diaminostilbene-2,2<SP>1</SP>-di-sulphonic acid or a salt thereof, step (1) being carried out in aqueous medium, in the absence of acid-binding agents and at a pH below 6. If desired the products may be further reacted with amines or amine salts.
