Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the purity of insulating gas enclosed in an electric instrument simply, by detecting the purity of the gas in a closely sealed receptacle by utilizing the variation of weight of a hydrophobic porous material. CONSTITUTION:SF6 in an instrument is isolated from the surrounding atmosphere by the wall of a closely sealed receptacle 1 and a part of the wall is constructed so that it is capable of opening for inspecting inner function parts at an inspection time. Further, a cloth bag 32 preventng falling of finely powdered activated carbon for a chromatograph 33 and being gas-permeable is stored in a receptacle 31 formed by a punched wire net. The activated carbon 33 is a hydrophobic porous material, that is, the porous material having low moisture adsorbing power and adsorbs SF6 gas well and then, the weight of the carbon 33 is varied linearly with the variation of the purity of SF6. This variation of weight is transmitted to a display device 5 through a transmission tool 4 and is displayed as the variation of the purity of SF6.Hereby, the purity is measured simply in the state which is ready for monitoring always.
