Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the abrasion resistance of external parts, lower the coefft. of friction of sliding parts and improve the durability and quality by forming a surface layer of a fluorohydrocarbon polymer on the top surface of a porous hard chrome plating layer of parts surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: A case band 1 obtained from brass by pressing, cutting and polishing is degreased, after which it is etched by immersion in an NaCN soln., rinsing and neutralizing with an aq. sulfuric acid soln. to etch, thence, it is applied with chrome plating with an ordinary method, whereby a plating layer of about 860 Vickers hardness and about 50μ thickness is formed. Next, reverse electrolytic etching is accomplished for about 2min in this plating soln. so that fine cracks are produced on the chrome plated surface. Thence, after the neutralization treatment, it is heat-treated for about 1hr at 200°C, after which it is quickly immersed in tetrafluoropolyethylene powder of ≤2μ powder sizes precooled to -70°C. After the part restores room temp., it is removed from the powder, and the excess powder stuck thereon is dislodged. The tetrafluropolyethylene is interference-fitted into the cracks of the plating layer, thereby forming a firm film.
