Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a cleaner for the surface of a cold rolled steel plate with superior washing power and lubricity by adding a specified carboxylic acid deriv. to a mixed aqueous soln. contg. an org. chelating agent, a surfactant and an org. sulfur compound. CONSTITUTION:A cleaner for the surface of a cold rolled steel plate, which is sprayed on the plate in place of rolling oil at the final stand of a tandem rolling mill to eliminate an electrocleaning procedure before annealing, is prepared by adding 0.5-10pts. of 1 or >=2 kinds of compounds selected from carboxylic acids represented by formulaeI, II (where R is a 6-22C long chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group, and R' is H or a 1-4C lower aliphatic hydrocarbon group) and alkali metallic, ammonium, 1-4C lower amine and <=6C alkanolamine salts of carboxylic acids of formulaIto a cleaner consisting of 10-30pts. org. chelating agent such as hydroxycarboxylic acid, 10-30pts anionic or nonionic surfactant, 0.5-10pts. org. sulfur compound, 0.1-5pts. foaming inhibitor such as silicon compounds and 20-80pts. water. Said components are well dissolved in the water. To the cleaner may be added a water soluble org. solvent such as alcohol.
