Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the decrease in the fatigue strength of a steel material of martensite structure given with specific tensile strength by a hardening and tempering treatment by carrying out zinc hot dipping on said steel material then applying shot peening thereto under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The steel material is hardened and tempered to martensite structure and to have 70-90kgf/mm.<2> tensile strength. Then, zinc hot dipping is carried out on this steel material, after which shot peening is applied thereto under the conditions of <=0.4mm. shot diameter, 45-60m/s shot speeds, and 10- 50kg shot rates. Thereby, the fatigue strength of the zinc hot dipped steel material is made >=45% the tensile strength of the base material.
