Abstract

PURPOSE:To allow one set of machine tool to carry out a wide range of cutting by a cnstruction wherein a head and a column and commonly used and a spindle unit provided with a spindle and a driving motor is made replaceable. CONSTITUTION:A column 2 is mounted on the sliding surface 1a of a head 1 in such a manner that a saddle 4 is made movable upward and downward along the sliding surface 2a of the column 2. A roller 6a of a spindle head unit 6 is mounted on a guide rail 7 and moved toward the saddle 4, when a curvic coupling 9 on the saddle 4 side and another 10 on the unit 6 side are engaged with each other. Subsequently, a lever 13 in an unclamped state shown by an dotted line operates an oil hydraulic cylinder 11 to move a rod 11a to the right, pressing a press 13b against a liner 6b to clamp the unit 6 on the saddle 4 side for starting the process. To detach the unit 6, the lever should be turned counterclockwise to pull out the unit 6.
