PURPOSE: To improve heat exchange rate of a fuel evaporator by providing a liquefied gas passage around a cooling water passage and making cross section of a liquefied gas passage in a spiral form, with inlet-outlet ratio gradually increasing at a specified valve along the flow direction.
CONSTITUTION: In the center of a longitudinally cylindrical case 52, a tubular cooling water passage 62 formed by a heat exchange bulkhead 60 axially penetrates along a straight line. A spiral heat exchange fin 66 is uniformly planted in the outer peripheral surface of the heat exchange bulkhead 60 perpendicular to the central axis. A liquefied gas passage 70 is formed by inner surfaces of the heat exchange fin 66 and the case 52. Also, a spiral pitch of the heat exchange fin 66 is grdually increased so that passage cross section of the liquefied gas passage 70 gradually enlarges from an entrance 72 to an exit 74. The cross-sectional ratio of the entrance of the passage 70 to its exit is set between 1 to 2 and 1 to 20. In this way, liquefied gas can be subjected to uniform heat exchange with cooling water throughout the passage 70.
