Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable take-up tension to be set within a small range in a method of taking up yarn in the form of a pattern with a ring twister by accelerating the twister when the yarn is shifted to a thinner portion and decelerating same when the yarn is shifted to a thicker portion in traverse take-up.
CONSTITUTION: A spindle 46 equipped with a pattern 48 is driven by a motor 43. The rotational frequency of the motor is controlled by a control unit 38 and the set value varies with the output voltage of differential transformers 32, 40. The voltage of the transformer 40 is varied by a cam 41 driven by a motor 42 such that tension in taking up yarn around the larger diameter wound portion of the pattern becomes constant. The voltage of the transformer 32 is varied by a cam 29 connected to a piston rod 11 and tapered portions 36, 37 at both ends of the cam are formed such that the rotational frequency of the spindle is constant. Thus, while the rotational frequency of the spindle decreases as the winding diameter increases, it is corrected to increase or decrease in a cycle of traverse movement so that the take-up tension is maintained constant.
