Abstract

PURPOSE:To smoothen the longitudinal follow-up property of a Mc Pherson type suspension device while effectively performing its torsion bar function by connecting the radius arm of the device to the front end of a torsion bar spring via a lower arm being flexible in a longitudinal direction and rigid in an elevational direction. CONSTITUTION:The road reaction of a wheel 5 is acted on a radius arm 4. A buffer (not shown) interferes the elevational impact. At this time the arm 4 elevationally moves at a support 4a as a fulcrum, and this elevational movement is absorbed by a rubber bush 6. This movement is simultaneously transmitted to a leaf spring 13 of the lower arm, but the lead spring 13 is rigid in the elevational direction. Accordingly, this force is transmitted to a sleeve 12 to rotate the sleeve 12 and to twist the torsion bar 3. The longitudinal movement of the wheel 5 alows the leaf spring 13 to elastically deflect via the arm 4. As a result, it can improve the longitudinal follow-up property of the arms 4, 13. At this time there exists no apprehension of applying the bending force to the bar 3.
