Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an organic synthetic reagent, high polymer modifier, etc. in high selectivity, by dehydrogenating an alkoxysilane with olefin in the presence of metallic ruthenium or a ruthenium carbonyl complex catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An alkoxysilane of the formula HSi(OR1)3 (R1 is alkyl), e.g. triethoxysilane, is dehydrogenated with (B) an olefin of the formula R2 -CH=CH2 [R2 is H or (substituted) alkyl] in the presence of metallic ruthenium or ruthenium carbonyl complex catalyst, e.g. Ru3(CO)12 at a molar ratio between the catalyst (B) and the alkoxysilane (A) of preferably 0.001W0.01 at 50W150°C for 2W50hr to give the aimed vinylsilane of the formula.
EFFECT: Expensive and difficultly handled organic solvents need not be used, a high yield is obtd.
