Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a magnetic head assembly which makes electric welding of gimbal spring and spacer, by welding them electrically and annealing in air, then fitting a magnetic head element and an arm. CONSTITUTION:Gimbal spring 20-24 and spacers 30-34 are processed to a specified shape from a stainless steel sheet. Further, the springs 20-24 and the spacers 30-34 are spot-welded at 6 contact parts 51-56. The connecting body of the springs 20-24 and the spacers 30-34 is heated for one hour at about 360 deg.C in air for annealing. Next, a magnetic head element consisting of a magnetic core, coil and leads is fitted to the springs to connect the spacers 30-34 and an arm 40.
