Abstract

PURPOSE:To decide the accuracy of both the magnification and the focus of a line sensor, by reading the stripe mark which is slightly oblique to its teaveling direction and then processing the read signal. CONSTITUTION:An inspecting medium 9 having a width (w) of the white and black parts which is equal to the length (l) equivalent to a photoelectric element of a line sensor 8 is moved in the direction X to be read by the line sensor 8. Then the outputs of all bits are stored when the 1st bit is equal to the 2nd bit of the sensor 8. In this case, if coincidence is obtained between the width W of a stripe mark and the pitch (l) of the sensor 8, an output waveform (a) is obtained. And waveforms (b) and (b') are obtained if a shift of 1 bit is caused as a whole. Using this theory, the shift of magnification is known by the number of shifts of the output. The accuracy of focus is decided through the comparison between the maximum and minimum levels of the output of the sensor 8.
