Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the driving of a watch with a minimum power consumption determined by the components of the watch by varying a voltage fed to a divider circuit according to an output signal of a malfunctioning detector with a voltage controller provided therewith. CONSTITUTION:In the normal operation, a pulse generator 10 of a malfunctioning detector 11 outputs one pulse to an up/down counter 12 of a voltage controller 14. The counter 12 acts as down counter based on the results of a discriminator 9 while the controller 14 lowers the level of a voltage fed to an oscillator circuit 2, a divider 3 and a timing signal generation circuit 4. With such an arrangement, when a malfunctioning takes place in the divider circuit 3 and the circuit 4, based on the results of the discriminator 9, with the counter 12 switched over to the up-counting mode, a pulse is generated from the generator 10 to raise the set level. Thereby, the operation is returned to normal state as a whole. Then the action of a variable voltage block 13 is fixed for the level setting after the operation becomes faulty, all functions perform with a minimum necessary power consumption.
