Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the efficiency of operation in a narrow space, by providing a turning member having a nozzle to the top end portion of a torch so that the direction of only the nozzle can be changed.
CONSTITUTION: A nozzle body 2 having a support shaft 3 extending substantially perpendicularly to the lengthwise direction of a torch 1 is attached to the top end portion of the torch 1. The nozzle body 2 consists of a fixed member 2' and a turning member 2", and sliding surfaces 4, 4 of these two members 2', 2" are held in tight contact with each other. A nozzle 6 is projected from the side face of the turning members 2" in a tangential direction of the member 2", and it is extended substantially perpendicularly to the length of the support shaft 3. Further, the nozzle 6 and the torch 1 are coupled together in the manner that concentric gas passages 5, 5 formed respectively in the sliding surfaces 4, 4 of the fixed member 4' and turning member 4" are registered with each other. Since, with such as arrangement, the nozzle 6 can be turned around the support shaft 3, it is enabled to raise the efficiency of operation in a narrow space that is required, for instance, in carrying out piping work for a refrigerator or the like.
