Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease the quantity of fuel charging to a hot stove and save the energy of the hot stove operation by elevating the temp. of the air to be supplied to the hot stove in supplying the hot wind of relatively low temps. to a blast furnace.
CONSTITUTION: When the hot wind of a high temp. is required from a blast furnace side, a cold wind pipe 2 for feeding cold wind to the hot stove is cooled, whereby the quantity of fuel charge is increased within the limit of the permissible temp. (350°C) of the ironware receiver 3d of checker bricks 3c in a regeneration chamber 36 of the hot stove, and the blast temp. to the blast furnace is raised. When the particularly high blast temp. is not required, the cooling of the pipe 2 is ceased, and the quantity of fuel charge is controlled to maintain the prescribed blast temp. The cooling and heat insulation of the pipe 2 are accomplished by feeding cooling water into the spacing between the pipe 2 and an outside pipe 8 provided concentrically on the outer side thereof, or closing the spacing and maintaining the same in a heat insulated state. The quantity of fuel charge is decreased by as much as the cold wind temp. higher than that when the pipe 2 is exposed, thus the operation with less energy is accomplished.
