Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain polyester pellet having a low acetaldehyde content and forming moldings having excellent transparency, by removing the moisture from polyester pellets and then heat-treating the pellets in vacuum under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene terephthalate-based polyester pellets, actaldehyde content 100W200ppm, are dried under a vacuum ≤10mmHg at a temperature ≤130°C until the moisture is decreased to 100ppm or below and then heat-treated for 2W20hr at a temperature T°C in the range of 200W240°C under vacuum VmmHg satisfying the relatirnship.
EFFECT: It is possible to obtain polyester pellets which, when molded into a thick- wall molding, are capable of providing a molding having good transparency without a rise or fall of an intrinsic viscosity.
