Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of surface active agents by using sugar solution as the working liquid for electrical discharge machining and permitting formation of carbon powder through electric discharge and keeping the constant amount of carbon powder in the working liquid. CONSTITUTION:The sugar solution, for example 50% cane sugar solution is used as the working liquid for electrical discharge machining. Electrical discharge machining is performed in a working tank 12, and carbon powder is formed, and the working liquid 10 containing the carbon powder is sent into a settling tank 22 to precipitate the worked powder. The working liquid 10 containing only carbon powder is sent into a feeding tank 24, and supplied into the working tank 22 again by a pressure pump 40. The concentration of carbon powder in the working liquid in the feeding tank 24 is measured by a carbon-amount measuring device 58 and a specific resistance meter 42, and when the concentration exceeds a set value, a solenoid valve 60 is opened, and s solenoid valve 38 is closed, and the specific resistance value is increased in an ion exchanging tank 39. Thus, the carbon powder can be dispersed uniformly in the working liquid.
