Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the excessive oozing and diffusion of a defective part indicating pattern by adding a resin which dissolves in a volatile org. dispersion medium and forms a film when the dispersion medium evaporates to a conventional developer consisting of white inorg. fine powder and the volatile org. dispersion medium. CONSTITUTION:White inorg. fine powder and a volatile org. dispersion medium are those used in a conventional developer for liquid penetrant flaw inspection. Natural resins such as mastic, dammer and the like and synthetic resins such as nitrocellulose, methacrylic acid and the like which dissolve in the volatile org., dispersion medium and form films when the dispersion medium evaporates can be used for the resin to be compounded with this developer. The mixing ratio thereof is 5-50wt% based on the weight of the white inorg. fine powder dispersed in the volatile org. dispersion. The use of such developer added with the resin obviates the collapstion of a defect indicating pattern despite the lapse of the time for the complete penetration of an oozing and dispersing penetrant in the resin film.
