Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition wherein a colored pigment and a dispersant are deposited on extender pigment, having improved weather resistance, by adding an extender pigment to a dispersion of colored pigment, a dispersant containing an anionic group, etc., and an aqueous medium, followed by mixing the blend with a dispersion breaker.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous pigment dispersion obtained by blending (A) a colored pigment (preferably water-insoluble organic or inorganic pigment, aqueous paste immediately after preparation) with (B) a dispersant (preferably a polymer having 2.5W40wt% carboxyl group and a molecular weight of 5,000W 100,000) having an anionic or water-soluble salt group, and (C) an aqueous medium, followed by grinding the blend, is mixed with (D) an extender pigment (preferably calcium carbonate, etc.). (E) A dispersion breaker (preferably a water-soluble salt of an alkaline earth metal, etc.) is added to the prepared dispersion, the dispersion is broken, the colored pigment and the water-insoluble salt of the dispersant are precipitated and deposited on the extender pigment, to give the desired composition.
EFFECT: Having improved water resistance, chemical resistance, coloring power, and clarity.
